Frank's 64 sporty
Frank showed up today with his 64 sporty chop that he bought and put me in charge of getting running.

TACO CHOP
The frame is an aftermarket cb750 chopper frame. I started cutting off all the motor mounts and found a bunch crap. Someone had cut off some mounts with a torch and cut into the frame itself and started filling it with bondo. I guess I have alittle more work to do than I had planned. On top of that, I tore down the motor and found some hideous port work. Luckily, they didn't change any port timing or remove too much material. This project is starting out like every other horror story build but we will work threw it. On the plus side I got a line on another Sherpa parts bike for cheap. Extra parts are always a plus!

THE WINGED EXPRESS!
My all time favorite vintage drag racer! Marcellus & Borsch, The Winged Express
The original driver was Wild Willie Borsch. On top of having to drive this thing sidways down the track one handed, Wild Willie Borsch was also a narcoleptic. known for falling asleep in the staging lanes he drove the thing like a pro and broke numerous records. Al Marcellus is still touring The Wing at most of the more popular vintage drags and is more than happy to talk to anyone who happens into his pits.

MORE PICS.
Wish I had someone with a nice camera taking pics of me. The second pic is Tim flogging on his Sporty during the barrel racing. Its sad that out of all the Harleys out there the two of us where the only ones out there on our bikes. I guess they didnt want to get their bike dirty. Almost makes me want to buy a Yamaha.

DRAG RACING PICS
For a Harley event, other than the two Nitro Harleys who were doing exhibition passes Tim and I were the only Harleys there on the track. There was fog in the morning so we had to wait awhile for the VHT to dry. Once the trace was ready they only gave us two passes to figure out our dial in time. I did an 8.45 pass on the first run and an 8.24 on the second. I chose an 8.2 dial in time and on my first official run ran an 8.6 because I smoked my tire off the line. The track officials had given the lite my opponents dial if so we had to run it again. I figured I had been given a second chance to make up for the bad run and blew it by red lighting. DAMN IT! I was out of the game by then.
Tim was having a hell of a time getting off the line. Either the front tire would go up or the rear tire would break loose. He went out on his first run as well. He stayed to run on saturday and won. his best run was a 7.8 but won it by dialing in a 7.90 and ran a 7.95. He still had to baby it off the line. I want to see what his bike can do once it gets hooked up.
After the racing they had a live band and biker games. Tim and I both competed in the barrel racing and something where you ride across 2x4's. my low flying bike does not do well in the dirt but I had a blast.
